Date Night.

So I have been gone for what feels like a life time in the blogging world, but I'm back and I'm going to (try) post at least every other day. I also got the Bloggie video camera for christmas so I'm hoping to make some YouTube videos of outfits and what not. I'll be sure to post them on here too.

For today I have an outfit of the day- date night. My boyfriend and I went out to dinner and then a movie a very typical date night, but it is something that we have not done in forever! For Christmas I received a beautiful purple blouse that I could not wait to wear. When I was thinking about what I was going to wear it with I thought about my black high waisted shorts; that I just bought, and since it's winter I just threw on a pair of tights to make it acceptable to wear with the cold weather; I also added my warm black coat for when I have to brave the outside. And since it was date night I wore heels to dress the look up.

Finishing getting ready

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold out

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, but more impotantly happy day before Black Friday! I'm so excited my mom and I are going to Target at midnight for the Kindle. I'm also hoping to get the Eyes Lips Face 144 palet eye shadow, a robe, and some Christmas items that I need to get for other people. This is the first black friday in two years that I don't have to work the morning shift so I can go get all the early deals at midnight.

I also have an outfit of the day for you; it was what I wore to Thanksgiving dinner with Steven' family. My family and I don't really do a whole lot for Thanksgiving it's normally just my family which includes my mom, my dad, and me. This year Steven will be joining us too, but we arn't doing it until Saturday becuase of my work scheudal.

I think this skirt is perfect for a holiday party with the family because it's a little longer. I paired it with a bright pink to top to give it some color. Then just a simple black cardign to pull everything together. The mini purse that I'm carrying was suppose to be a Christmas present, but I forgot to bring home a matching purse from school so my mom let me have it early. Thanks mom. The shoes are Nine West from a resale shop in my home town; they just have a little kitten heel on them about 1 inch.

HAIRCUT!

So I know I havn't been posting much lately, and I really have no excuse besides the fact that I've just been lazy. But I just got a new haircut and I wanted to share it, and share some tips about how to get a good hair cut.

I don't really have a before picture to show you other than old pictures from outfits of the day. I got about three inches off, and a new style to my bangs. I let my hair grow out for awhile because I knew I wanted something different with it. When it finally got to the point where I just couldn't stand it anymore I made a haircut appointment. A couple weeks before my haircut I cut out pictures from magazines or printed them off the internet of hair syles that I liked. I used chictopia.com to get inspiration rather than just googling pictures because the people on there are stylish and real people rather than celebrities.

Another tip would be to talk to your stylist and make sure she knows exactly what you want. I told her to take about three inches to start because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, and remember you can always go shorter. I also always tend to hate my bangs when I get them cut because I think I want shorter bangs but I just don't like them when they get cut so I made sure she knew that I wanted them to be longer this time.

My last tip would be don't be afraid to say at the end if you really like it or if you want them to change something about it. You want to get your moneys worth because haircuts can be expensive. If in the day couple of days you don't like make another appointment; they can help fix what you don't like. If you make the appointment within a couple of days after your first one they usually won't charge you if it's just a touch up to something you didn't like.

P.S. I'm sorry I don't have a full outfit picture, but my jacket is from Forever 21 and my necklace is from Express. I just wore it with a black tank underneath, dark skinny jeans, and cheetah wedges. I will be posting more so be sure to check back.

Color Blocking...

 A silly pic for today.

I saw something on TV last night that inspired me to try color blocking. I started with my plain bright purple dress and my orangy colored scarf and went from there. I knew that those two pieces would be the main focus of my outfit so I choose gray pieces in gray to go with it. I was going to wear these black lace leggings but then they became a big focus and I thought too much was going on and decided to stick with these Vera Wang light gray tights with little diamond details. Then because the dress was a little short I paired it with long, oversized cardigan. Just because everything else was gray I kept the boots grays so it wouldn't be a drastic color difference on my feet.

Hope you enjoyed the color combination

Vintage Love...

I adore vintage clothes.
I got this white blazer last week during a vintage sale at my school. It was only $5; I wish I would have got more, but I went at the end so there wasn't that much to choose from. The shoes they had though were to die. I would have bought a pair, but they were too small. Though I was considering buying them just to have in my closet, but I thought they are shoes and they are meant to be worn. I also bought the purse at the same sale for only $2! My shirt is from a local vintage store. I love it for the fall because of the color and because of the collar that ties. Bows around your neck are one of my October Trends.

Styling vintage can be quite tricky sometimes. You don't want to over do it or it will look like a costume. There are ways that you can wear vintage head to toe and still look modern. I don't have vintage pieces for my bottom half, so today I just wore some.

Styling Tip-
When wearing vintage try to keep at least one piece modern.
I picked jeans to wear with my vintage; it also kept the outfit casual for school.

Styling Tip-
Another way to keep your vintage outfit from looking too outdated
is by wearing vintage inspired clothes or accessories.
My ring is vintage inspired and totally goes with this outfit,
but it gives the outfit a modern edge.
Hope you enjoyed the outfit.
Let me know what you think.

Furry, Fuzzy...

Today I finally wore my furry vest; one of my October trends, plus I paired it with red, which is a really popular color for October.  I tried to keep the rest of the outfit simple so the fur vest would the main focus of the outfit. I think that vests look good with long sleeves or a tank top, but it is way to cold out for a tank; I paired mine with a red long sleeved, dark jeans, and over the knee boots. I thought that the red really poped against the black fur. My vest was more fitted which is why I wanted to keep the rest of the oufit simple, but I've seen oversized fur vests paired with a cute floral blouse; it was a light brown oversized fur vest with a light pink blouse that had a simple floral pattern on it.

Details:
Vest- Goodwill $9.99
Red Long Sleeve- Aeropostale
Capris- Levi's
Boots- Kohls

Hope you enjoyed the outfit.

Versace for H&M

Versace is teaming up with H&M this fall. The line will hit stores on November 16, with a runway show in New York on November 8. There is 40 pieces for women and 20 for men. From the pictures and and videos that I've seen the collection is very diverse. Glamour magazine had a mini interview with Donatella Versace, herself, and she said that they reworked iconic pieces for the H&M collection; in other words she said "It's like a CD of greatest hits."
Unfortunally not everyone will be able to get the looks because it will only be in 300 stores worldwide. I haven't found the exact stores yet.
Also from the Glamour interview I learned that everything will be in the price range of $20-$249. Everything that I've seen in the ads have been priced above $150; I'm not sure what is going to be at the low end of the price range, but at least everyone will be able to afford something from the collection.

Info & Pictures from:

These are some of my fav looks so far from the collection

I love the color and shape of this dress;
and the studs on it are placed in such a beautiful pattern.

Studs and leather are very big in this collection.

I love the print; the colors just pop, and pairing it with the liquid leather
leggings just makes the colors stand out even more.
Leather leggings are very on trend right now; if you don't have a pair
you must get some.

This is a dress from one of thier ads  for the collection.
 Its such a fun dress.
I would wear it to Homecoming, or a winter dance.

Change of Heart...

My mom and I went shopping today with no intention to buy anything until we found this fabulous sweater at our local resale boutique. It's an olive green Romeo & Juliet Couture sweater with lace detail around the bottom. It was so beautiful I couldn't wait to try it on. I am normally a medium and this was a small, but there was no way I wasn't going to purchase this; I would lose weight if I had to.

I tried it on and steped out of the fitting room to show my mom and the sales associates; at first I wasn't in love with it on. It just didn't look right with the jeans I was wearing, but I thought maybe I could pull it off with leggings. THOUGH I was always very against people wearing leggings with tops. The only way I was every going to wear leggings was with a dress that fully covered all the junk in my trunk. They had a couple pairs at the boutique that I tried on and though none of them fit me quit right; they looked adorable with the sweater. The lace fell perfectly to cover what I didn't want showing, it didn't look too bulky anymore, and it really showed off the beauty of the sweater and lace.

I obviously bought the sweater, but I didn't have any leggings to go with it. That is right I do not own a single pair of thick leggings. At the resale boutique the leggings that I tried on were from Maurices, so we went there to see if they had a smaller size. They did, and they fit perfect; they were so comfortable and what I really like about them was that they had a thick band around the waist that helps with holding them in place so they arn't constantly falling down. Plus they were only $14, which I thought was fairly reasonable for leggings.

I will be styling the sweater with my new leggings and giving styling tips for how to wear leggings sometime within the next week,
so be sure to check back and let me know what you think.

P.S. I also just bought a pair of black faux leather leggings; they are really on trend right now and they are a little less expensive then buying leather pants. They are from DailyLook.com and they are on sale right now for $14.99! Faux Leather Leggings

October Trends...

I learned this organization of trends from a youtube/blogger called Sammy Davis Vintage and she organizes them by Clothing, Material, Pattern, Color.

Clothing...
1. Bows- Either around your neck with a sheer scarf or in your hair with a headband bows are fabulous. Another way to wear them is around the collar of a shirt to go with the mens wear trend and some shirts even come with them built in for you to tie. A more subtle way to wear a bow tie is around your purse straps.

2. Structured Bags- For day time try carrying the 2 strap (one long, one short) structured bag and for night try a mini bag or clutch.

3. Skirt- there are a few ways to wear skirts this month either go long with a maxi skirt, go short with a circle skirt, or go just a little below the knee for a very sophicated look.

4. High Waisted Pants- This trend is the one I'm most excited about. I got a pair of high waisted pants from Goodwill that I'm in the process of taking in just a smidge, but I'm not really sure how to style them yet. I will probably keep the top simple and pair it with some killer high heels.

Material...
5. Fur- Now I'm not a big fan of buying real fur, but I found the most fab fur vest at Goodwill and it was real so I was debating getting it, but a lady also shopping said I must because it was so cute and I literally don't have any other fur in my closet except for a little scarf.

6. Leather- I don't have leather except for jackets, but I'm on the hunt for a pair of leather pants. I think they are super cute and trendy this month and will last you all through the winter. If your not into leather pants try a leather skirt I would suggest a little longer than normal.

7. Snakeskin- An easy way to wear this trend is on your feet, either in flats or boots. I found a fab snakeskin purse and shirt at Goodwill that I can't wait to carry. If your really daring I've even seen snakeskin pants.

Color...
8. Bright Yellow- Either use a pop of this color is your shoes or cute hand bag or go all out in a bright yellow dress, pants, or shirt. It looks good paired with more neutral colors or go bold and pair it with bright blue and orange for this month.

9. Red- I love it. Its such a romantic color and its been in style for awhile now. Again you can wear it any where from your shoes to your lip stick. Now that falls here you should try deeper tones of red, but don't be afraid to try bright pops of red too.

Pattern...
10. Poka Dots- Marc Jacobs did most of his outfit in head to toe dots. He put them on his jackets, shirts, skirts, and tights. I think you could find some really cool vintage poka dots at thrift store for a fraction of his price.

11. Plaid- I'm not a huge fan of plaid, but it is really popular this season so I'm going to try it, but I'm not sure how or with what piece of clothing. I think that plaid in skirts looks like a school girl and in a flannel looks like a country lover and I am neither. So we'll see about this trend.

12. Cheetah Print- This print is always in style no matter what. It's almost becoming a neutral. This month though I'm noticing it alot on jeans and its really cute. I might have to splurge on a good pair; it might be too trendy for a thrift store.

Visit back this month to check out how I style these trends.
You don't need to go out and buy all new clothes every month or season
most of these clothes were already in my closet or I go them at Goodwill for a inexpensive price

Curling iron/wand...

Today I have an outfit for you and a recomendation for a curling iron/wand.
First the curling iron. I got it a couple weeks ago because I needed one to take with me to college. It has a mini clip on it for curling your hair like a curling iron, but it also has the spiral going down it to curl your hair like a wand.

I have used it before to just curl my hair, but today was the first day I tried using it as a wand and I loved it. It works so well either way you use it. I especially like it because I have long hair and it is made with an extra long barrel. Plus the spiral on it makes it easier to use as a wandAnd guess how much I paid for it... $15. I know it was a crazy deal, I got mine at Shopko, but I've seen this one at Target and I'm sure Walmart will have it too.

That's how my hair turned out with using the curling iron as a wand.
I think it gives it more of an effortless curl.

Now on to the Outfit. It's getting pretty cold where I live, so I thought it was time to break out the leather jacket. I got this last yeat in April for my birthday, and I havn't got to wear it much because it wasn't the right weather for it.
I paired my leather jacket with a lace blouse, skinny jeans, and my favortie new booties.

Nothing in my outfit was thrifted today, but the leather jacket I practically stole; it was on sale for only $30.

haha, sorry for the messy bed.

Booties

So I just got these new little booties and I absolutely adore them! They are so comfortable that I could walk a million miles in them and they are just so chic. Since fall is coming we now have to worry about warmth, and these shoes do the trick. The price was reasonable too, I got them for $17 at Kohl's, but I had $30 in Kohl's cash or they would have been $47 which isn't too bad; but I did see them on sale for $32 the weekend before so if that's a little out of your price range I'd suggest waiting for another sale or putting them on your Christmas list becaues I know I'll still be rocking them in winter too. They are perfect for Fall because of the color and wedge, but they also have a grip bottom which is in style right now as well as perfect for the seasons that are ahead of us.
I wore them both nights this weekend; Friday I had a family dinner and Saturday I went out to dinner with my parents, so the outfits are a little more casual but you could dress these up or down.
They are just so perfect.

Friday night family dinner.

Candid shots are always the best.

Saturday night dinner with my parents.

This is my boyfriend, Steven, and I just wanted to share his outfit of the day too.
This is Friday night.
He has a very quirky style, but it is very inspiring, so whenever I get pics of his outfits I'll share them with you.
